#tiptalk - ending your style rut ♥

Denim jacket: Boohoo*   |   Mesh leggings (similar): Boohoo   |   Nude strap top (similar): Forever 21   |   Strap heels (similar): Boohoo
Although the weather right now is not suitable for strap tops or thin denim jackets, a few weeks ago I put together this outfit and it gave me a great idea for a blog post. When it comes to my own personal style I love wearing tight fitted outfits and well...a lot of black. Don't get me wrong, I will always wear black as my number one wardrobe saviour but I have been feeling slightly uninspired by my usual day wardrobe. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone for this mini photo shoot session and I really love how the photos have come out.

For today's blog post I wanted to talk about how you can beat your style rut. If you are looking for easy and subtle tips to transform your normal wardrobe, hopefully this blog post can help. I think 99% of the time I am wearing a dress or leather trousers and I rarely try anything new. I decided to take inspiration from my beloved
Kim (yes, I know this is my usual style guru) but I wanted to mix the look up with an oversized jacket. This jacket is actually from the maternity collection from Boohoo and I love how it adds an edgy tone to the nude heels and mesh fabric.
I would never normally wear something oversized but I think this denim jacket from Boohoo* is incredibly flattering and it adds a new trend to my wardrobe - it is currently in the sale too. What I love about this outfit is that you can mix and match the items individually, I've learnt that you don't need to spend a fortune on rebuilding your wardrobe, neutral colours can still be really wearable. If you swapped the vest top for a softer fabric, you could easily make this outfit dressier. Pinterest is another great tip if you are looking for a new wardrobe vibe, I have been saving quite a few images on my Pinterest and it gives me inspiration everytime I scroll.
I am still a big fan of subtle accessories for my outfits though, a thin gold necklace or statement glasses will always be my little trick to add definition to an outfit. I found these over sized sunglasses at a vintage market in Maidstone last year, I can't believe they were only £5.00. You can find a similar pair in Topshop. Markets are a great place to jazz up your closet, you can find items that are totally out of your comfort zone and I love taking inspiration from the 60's or 90's era.
I was actually pretty worried that this outfit wouldn't work but the denim jacket just completed this look for me. It is quite nice to wear something practical for once, okay the heels may not be that practical for walking around if you want to go shopping for hours but if you want to go for brunch or drinks, this will be my go to outfit. If you are looking for mesh leggings, try and find a top that matches the nude colour in the trousers, I think it blends together really well. I tried on a few different nude tops but this dusky pink strap top easily matched with the mesh leggings.
I hope you found this blog post useful, it was really nice to step out of my usual dress and wear something casual and comfortable for once. What do you think of following trends, are you a fan? Let me know what #TipTalk post you would like me to create next. If you have any outfit requests let me know. I am still in the process of buying a new Mac so I will be creating more fashion videos soon, in the meantime you can watch my fashion videos here
