the q hotel spa day - ashford ♥

I think everyone needs to make time for themselves. We all need time to switch off and unwind without worrying about bills, chores and everyday tasks. With 2017 in full swing, I was slightly struggling to remember this memo so I was thrilled to be invited to The Q Hotel spa* at Ashford International. December usually means baggy jumpers, mince pies and quite a few glasses of Prosecco but with the festive season over, it is time for me to get back to taking care of my body. The detox package at The Q Hotel branch certainly offers impressive methods to revive your body while also helping you switch off from the January lull.

Last Saturday, Ollie and I drove to Ashford to visit The Q Hotel and we were certainly in for a treat. The drive only took us 45 minutes from Bromley and we found the hotel very easily. As we parked in the car park, we made our way to the concierge desk and we were taken to the Rejuvenation room. The interior of the hotel is a mixture of royal purple combined with bold and bright furniture. The modern interior and uplifting atmosphere was certainly welcoming and I was excited to see what the spa area had in store for us. We were handed soft, beige robes and slippers and taken downstairs to the changing room.
Once we were changed, I was taken into a treatment room and seated on the massage table. The interior is simple yet warm, not too bold but not too clinical either - a perfect blend of both. I really do find little details like that important and for me, they make a lasting impression. The detox treatment began with my body being exfoliated, although this doesn't sound like your typical spa visit, it certainly felt beneficial for my skin and using an exfoliating brush is actually a great way to get your circulation moving around your body. Once my body was exfoliated, I was massaged with a hot oil and a thin foil wrap was placed around me for a few minutes. The treatment in total lasted for an hour.
After shutting my eyes for a few minutes, I felt the tension lift and I felt completely relaxed and comfortable. Throughout the treatment I was asked if I needed anything and whether the massage pressure or exfoliating was too hard or too soft. For me, this makes all the difference. After our treatment was complete, we were taken to the Relaxation Room and we had the opportunity to sit back on large chairs and rest. I couldn't help looking at my skin! It had such a healthy glow and I noticed the difference immediately.

We got changed and made our way to The Horizon restaurant and we were treated to a spa meal, we were certainly spoiled for choice and had the option of cheese boards, pasta and even chocolate tarts. After we finished our lunch, we made our way to the Ashford outlet which is an easy 10 minute drive away. This is certainly an extra perk to the Ashford International hotel and if you are interested in spending the morning shopping for luxury brands and the evening having a massage at the hotel - there is no better place to be. Overall, I can't thank the Q Hotel staff enough, they greeted us with smiles and were attentive throughout our stay. Whether you are looking for a Valentine's day treat or a mother's day spa break, you will certainly find the full package at the Ashford branch. Are you looking for a detox package? I would love to know what would make your dream spa day! ♥
