netflix - the thrillers playlist ♥

It is time for another Netflix post! This week I wanted to talk about thrillers. Now this is probably my favourite movie genre, I love feeling tense watching a film and not knowing what to expect. There is a pretty good selection on Netflix at the moment so here is my lift of top favourites. I have put together quite a few Netflix playlists, including superhero films, feel good shows and even a tearjerker list. Let me know if you are looking for a particular genre, I love putting this Netflix post together! You can see my previous Netflix posts here. Let's get started! ♥
The Gift
I watched this film last year and oh my - I am still freaked out. The Gift is an amazing film but in a creepy, twisted way! Simon (played by Jason Bateman) and his wife Robyn move to a new house, while they are out shopping they bump into Simon's old class mate, Gordo. He sends the couple a welcome present for their new home and things start to get pretty weird when they invite him over. This film definitely leaves a lasting impression and Jason Bateman does an amazing job.
Jennifer Lopez can sing, dance and also act and she certainly proves this with her staring role in Enough. The gripping story line is based around Slim, a young waitress marrying a contractor named Mitch. He becomes abusive, pretty dangerous and controlling so Slim faces the touch choice of running away and trying to save her life and their daughters. I love, love, love the martial art training scenes in this, even if they are pretty brief. It has some serious girl power moments in this flick and the cat and mouse chase is very entertaining!
Panic Room
This film is certainly a classic, Jodie Foster is perfection as usual and the film really escalates quickly. After moving into a new house with her daughter, (played none other than a young Kristen Stewart), the house is broken into by a group of thugs trying to recover $3 million dollars worth of bearer bonds. The intruders and Jodie Foster spend the film trying to outwit each other and the plot twists certainly keep you glued to your screen.
This film is slightly more on the horror side but if you are looking for a very creepy film, I give you Insidious. I don't really get scared watching films but this really makes me grab my cushion and hide. The plot begins with a family moving into a new home, they soon discover that the house may be haunted after their son falls into a coma. They call upon on psychic to help recover their son and to find out if something has possessed him.
No Way Out
I am a huge, huge fan of Kevin Costner, he has been one of my top crushes since forever so I was pretty excited when Netflix added No Way Out to the playlist. Kevin Costner plays a navy lieutenant and he begins having an affair with a young woman, he finds out that she is also seeing his boss... Costner later discovers her dead body and he becomes a suspect in the case. This film is super retro but if you are in the mood for some Kevin and some suspense, it doesn't get any better than this. If you like No Way Out then I also recommend watching Revenge, it is another fabulous retro thriller!
