My Best Friend's Wedding
I don't even know how to explain how much I love this film. I first watched this movie when I was twelve years old, it was pretty much a sleepover favourite with my primary school friends. Julianne Potter, played by Julia Roberts, finds out that her best friend, Michael, is getting married. She panics and tries to break up the wedding because she decides she wants to be with him instead. It is sweet, charming and definitely one of the original chick flicks I grew up watching.
Okay, this film doesn't exactly follow the cheery, chick flick above but Fight Club is definitely a must watch if you love a young Brad Pitt and fancy watching a film to get you thinking. It's gritty, dark and makes you question your own life. The film is based around a man working in an office, he is sleepwalking through life until he starts a secret underground fight club to release his tension, frustration and depression. It's definitely not a film to watch while you are getting ready for a girls night out, but if you want something to sink your teeth into - Fight Club is perfect.
For a cringe fest and fabulous montages, I give you The DUFF. Bianca finds out she is the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her two best friends after speaking to her popular, jock neighbour, Wesley. He promises to make her more comfortable around boys and she promises to help him with his Science homework. Pretty simple plot but it does have lots of giggles - I definitely recommend ordering Pizza Hut and watching in your PJs.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
I'm sure I don't have to explain this TV series. It is beyond clever and Will Smith makes you laugh throughout. I always used to watch The Fresh Prince on BBC 2, right before Buffy came on. You don't really need to follow the series episode by episode but if you are looking for a quick comedy fix with a feel good family vibe, I give you TFP.
After the success of Think Like A Man, the sequel certainly lived up to the first movie. I love the book and I think Kevin Hart narrates this movie perfectly. It is definitely a perfect chick flick and if you are looking for a rom-com from a male and female perspective, I give you this movie. The couples travel to Las Vegas for their stag and hen do's and mayhem begins - it really is an easy watch and Kevin Hart is simply my favourite.
