Don't get me wrong, I would love to spend my salary on make-up products covered in gold packaging but the sad reality is, I can't afford to spend £26 on one lip gloss. If you are a serial product junkie like myself, one shade of lip gloss just isn't enough and finding a cheaper alternative is a main goal in life. Luckily for you I think I've found a cheaper version of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain (try saying that three times...). I have been using the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche L'Extraordinaire lipsticks for almost a year now, I have purchased quite a few colours including the shades 601 Nude Ballet, 500 Molto Mauve and 401 Fuchsia Dream so I thought I would compare my YSL glossy stains and see how they matched up. The YSL shades include 17, a deep pink 14, a light rose and 11, a deep red shade.
Although the L'Oreal packaging is not as glam as YSL, paying £8 compared to £26 definitely ticks the right box for me, I don't mind throwing the packaging design out of the window if the quality of the product is worth it. Now when it came to swatching the L'Oreal Fuchsia Dream (left) and YSL 14 (right) on my hand, I was impressed to see the pigmentation and thickness of the L'Oreal shade. I have never actually compared the two shades side by side before and as you can see from the photo, the L'Oreal results are impressive! If you have tried the YSL glossy stains then you will know the formula is not supposed to be incredibly thick so I definitely recommend YSL for a night out or a special occasion but the L'Oreal lip products are definitely perfect for everyday wear. Overall I am really impressed with the packaging of YSL but L'Oreal match up by providing thick coverage and great shade options. 10/10 ♥
